Rutgers Band Hangs With Supermodels

For once, college football players are jealous of the band members.

That’s because the Rutgers drumline was part of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York City on Wednesday (it will air on CBS on Dec. 10 at 10:00 PM ET) and got up and personal with hostess Taylor Swift and Victoria’s Secret supermodels like Candice Swanepoel (below, wearing a $10 million fantasy bra) and Hilary Rhoda (above, posing with band member Paul Malesmik) while starting the show playing the drums and dressed as British soldiers for the UK-themed show.

“I asked a group of 18- to 21-year-old mostly male students if they’d be interested in performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” band director Timothy Smith told NJ.com. “They didn’t wait a nanosecond to say, ‘Of course!’”

It turns out, the 14 members of the band were quite the celebrities.

“The girls stopped and wanted to have their pictures taken with our guys,” Smith said. “They were so nice and enthusiastic. The same for Taylor Swift. She (said), ‘Hey, how are you doing? Good luck.’ I had hoped it was going to be a good experience, but my goodness, this totally exceeded my expectations.”

“Our guys run out of a tunnel on Saturday afternoons into this 50,000-seat stadium,” Smith said. “They’re 100 yards away from the fans. When they marched out on to this stage, the crowd roared for them ... (but) they were a couple of feet away from them.”

Trust us: The crowd is the last thing these guys were paying attention to.
