Rodgers to Geno Smith: ‘Hang in There’
Considered by many to be a first-round talent both during his senior season at West Virginia and leading up to the 2013 NFL Draft, QB Geno Smith went unselected in the first round on Thursday night.
At the end of his disappointing evening, Smith received some encouragement from another QB who knows what it’s like to come to New York expecting to be drafted high only to wait sheepishly in the green room for his name to be called: Former Cal standout and current Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers.
He tweeted this out on Friday morning:
Hang in there Geno, “good things come to those who wait” -Paul Tagliabue

Indeed, Rodgers represents the ideal scenario for Smith: Channeling the frustration of feeling slighted into working harder and eventually becoming an NFL star. That Rodgers recognizes Smith’s ability to potentially follow in his footsteps should be all the more heartening.
