RB Mason Upholds AU Squirrel Tradition?
At Auburn, you apparently haven’t stamped yourself as a truly legitimate running back until you’ve demonstrated the ability to run down and catch a squirrel.
Former Tigers RB Onterio McCalebb allegedly pulled off the trick when he arrived on campus four years ago this August. And if a recently shared Instagram photo is to be believed, Tre Mason has joined him in this unique pantheon.
“Catch squirrels to test your speed!” Mason wrote as the caption to his photo on Instagram.
While McCalebb — who recently signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent — no doubt wants to see Mason do well this upcoming season, he’s cautiously skeptical about whether Mason actually joined him in AU squirrel-catching lore.
“It’s funny,” McCalebb told AL.com, “but I don’t know if he caught that squirrel or not.”
We guess it’s up to Mason to have someone film him nabbing a squirrel to erase all doubt.
