Ranking C-USA’s Starting Running Backs

Comments

Two things jump out at you when taking stock of Conference USA’s projected starting running backs.

First are the new-look league’s impressive rising sophomores. Louisiana Tech’s Kenneth Dixon (our pick for the conference’s best back) ran for an FBS freshman record 27 TDs last fall, while Middle Tennessee State’s Jordan Parker and Marshall’s Kevin Grooms had impressive debut seasons of their own.

Second is how many C-USA teams rely on a multi-headed running back. Tulsa seniors Trey Watts and Ja’Terian Douglas are one of the best RB tandems in the country, while Marshall, Rice, North Texas, UTSA and Southern Miss will also be counting on production from multiple ball-carriers in 2013.
