Pitino Spooked by Postgame Fireworks

When Rick Pitino was making his way toward Michigan counterpart John Beilein for the postgame handshake following Louisville’s 82–76 title game triumph, a small fireworks display went off over the Georgia Dome court.

Based on his reaction, Pitino was not expecting said fireworks at all.

Just as he went in for the handshake, he ducked and covered as if the world were ending. He quickly recovered and apologized to Beilein — who was impressively stoic throughout — before finally telling him, “Good game.”

Here’s hoping this makes its way onto the bloopers section of Louisville’s championship season DVD.
