PETA Disses Te’o on Proposed Billboard
Manti Te’o has an unlikely “ally” in People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
The organization is hoping to erect at least one billboard in New Orleans in time for the Super Bowl that reads “Sometimes faking it is better” with Te’o’s likeness. It is meant to encourage fans watching the big game to opt for faux-chicken instead of real chicken.
“Manti Te’o may have been buffaloed by a fake girlfriend, but sometimes ‘fake’ is actually better,” read PETA’s announcement of the billboard. “That’s why PETA created this billboard urging football fans to avoid unnecessary roughness to chickens on Super Bowl Sunday by intentionally grounding real chicken wings and opting for play-action fake fowl instead.”
For an organization that concerns itself with the ethical treatment of animals, it appears PETA doesn’t hesitate to exploit the travails of human beings.
