K-State Debuts New Mascot, EcoKat
[Update: EcoKat has been removed from Kansas State’s website.]
Iowa and Iowa State just felt the wrath of the American public after debuting a football trophy with a basket of corn on it.
Well now it’s Kansas State’s turn to be a national punchline.
That’s because the school has decided to debut a new mascot to join Willie the Wildcat (who is already pretty strange himself) named “EcoKat,” a “crusader of conservation and fanatic of fluorescent lightbulbs” that is trying to help the school go green.
Naturally, the costume is made of 90 percent repurposed materials and eco-friendly dyes.
As you can see below, the mascot looks like a female superhero out of a bad comic book.
