NW Snaps Long Losing Streak to OSU in ’04

Thirty-three was a magical number for Northwestern on the night of October 2nd, 2004, against seventh-ranked Ohio State.

It was the jersey number of running back Noah Herron, who accounted for 125 total yards and three touchdowns against the Buckeyes. It was also the “carry number” on which he scored the winning touchdown in the Wildcats’ 33-27 overtime upset. It was also the number of years that the Northwestern faithful had to wait in between wins over OSU, the last one having come in 1971.

Herron would earn Second Team All-Big Ten honors at the end of the season before embarking on a five-year NFL career (2005-2009). He has since settled down with his wife in Portage, MI - not far from his hometown of Mattawan - and works as a territorial sales representative for Grainger Industrial Supply in Kalamazoo.

Northwestern will have upset on its mind again this Saturday when the Buckeyes come to Evanston.
