Notre Dame Gets Black Uniforms vs. UK

“Blackouts” are so en vogue right now in college sports that even a school as conservative and old-school as Notre Dame is getting into the mix for Thursday night’s college basketball game between the Irish and the defending national champion Kentucky Wildcats.

For just the second time in the history of Purcell Pavilion, Notre Dame will be wearing black uniforms. As you can see from YouTube videos promoting the event with Notre Dame players in the uniforms, the Irish will be sporting sleek black uniforms with fluorescent blue and green numbers and letters.

You can almost never go wrong with black but the problem with these is that the lettering and numbering are way too hard to see. These are essentially pitch black jerseys and shorts.

The concept was cool but the execution was sorely lacking. Grade: C
