New Mexico Hits Two Miracle Threes

UAB had not one but two opportunities to pull off an early season upset of 19th-ranked New Mexico on Thursday night - and the Blazers blew them both.

The first instance came in regulation. Leading the Lobos, 75-72, UAB allowed Kendall Williams to make a game-tying, running 3-pointer from 28 feet out at the buzzer.

Then, at the end of overtime, New Mexico center Alex Kirk hit another game-tying 3-pointer with five seconds remaining to make it 86-all.

The Lobos would win in double OT, 97-94, proving once again that good teams win games they aren’t supposed to win while bad ones lose games they aren’t supposed to lose.
