NCAA: Instagram Filters Not Allowed
We’ve read stories concerning petty NCAA rules, but this is ridiculous.
An “educational column” written by the organization in a Q&A format and published on Wednesday stated that “a photograph that has been altered or staged for a recruiting purpose cannot be sent to a prospective student-athlete.”
Why the rule is apparently intended to prohibit schools from doctoring photos to have recruits, say, look like they are wearing a school’s uniform, also blocking Instagram filters is up there in silliness with prohibiting spreads on bagels.
With the rash of major rules violations that make the headlines on an annual basic, you would think that college sports’ governing body would concern itself with more pressing matters than sepia-toned photos.
