4-Foot-9 Midget RB Walks on at Rice

We have a new favorite college football player: Rice freshman running back Jayson Carter.

The little man with a big heart walked onto the Owls football team last week at, get this, 4-foot-9 and 135 pounds. A legal midget, Carter is nine inches shorter than former Kansas State running back Darren Sproles. Carter reportedly played for Houston’s Kipp High School, where he had 1,233 yards and 18 touchdowns in his career.

“All of my life I went against guys that are at least 70 pounds heavier than I am,” Carter told FOX 26 Sports in Houston. “So it’s nothing I’m not used to.

“When they see me they’re like, ‘whoa what’s going on.’ That gives me the upper hand.”

While it can be an advantage to be a short running back because you hide behind the offensive line and have a low center of gravity, getting tackled by guys almost three times your weight can’t feel good.

We can see the Hollywood movie script already.
