Michael Redd Waiting On Another NBA Shot

Despite averaging 19.0 PPG on 44.7% FG shooting over the course of 12 NBA seasons, former Ohio State star Michael Redd is yet to find a home for a 13th.

A number of teams expressed interest in the 33-year-old shooting guard during this past offseason. When Redd — a 2004 All-Star — did not receive a guaranteed contract offer, he opted to test the free agent waters. He’s still waiting for an offer that suits him, but in the meantime he could be training for his next career, having served as a guest studio analyst on NBA TV in early January.

With the Buckeyes, Redd formed a lethal combination with Scoonie Penn, leading OSU all the way to the 1999 Final Four. The Columbus native was also the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 1998 and a First Team All-Big Ten performer in 2000.

After signing a six-year, $91 million contract following the 2004–2005, Redd bought a church building for his father’s ministry. Today, bishop James Redd continues to preach from the pulpit at Philadelphia Deliverance Church of Christ in Columbus.
