Manziel Sits Courtside for Heat-Mavericks
Johnny Manziel’s post-Heisman blowout tour rolls on, but did NBA color commentator Steve Kerr try to ruin the fun?
On Thursday, Manziel had courtside seats for the Heat-Mavericks game in Dallas. Kerr, calling the game for TNT along with Marv Albert and Mike Fratello, expressed curiosity as to how the A&M QB got such good tickets.
“How does a college kid get courtside seats to a Mavs game?” Kerr pondered aloud. “Those are expensive seats. I’m just going to throw that out there ... Just because he’s playing in the SEC now, I’m not trying to insinuate anything.”
When Manziel received word that Kerr was raising these questions about him, he went on the defensive.

TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager confirmed that Manziel had indeed bought the ticket. In addition, SB Nation’s Brian Floyd pointed out that Manziel’s family works in the oil and real estate business and could probably more than afford to buy him those seats on a one-time basis.
Oh, Manziel also sat courtside for the 76ers-Rockets game in Houston the night before, after which he struck the Heisman pose with James Harden in the Rockets’ locker room.
We might start calling him “Johnny Basketball” if this keeps up.
