NCAA: No to L’ville Men’s N.O. Trip

When the euphoria of its 82–76 victory over Michigan in the national title game on Monday night had partially worn off, Louisville’s men’s basketball team turned part of its attention to its counterparts on the women’s team and their own championship game against UConn on Tuesday - only for the NCAA to step in and be a complete buzz kill.

Louisville had made a request that the men’s team be allowed to travel to New Orleans to cheer on the Lady Cardinals, only to be turned down by the NCAA on the grounds that it was an extra benefit for the players.

Rick Pitino, never one to shy away from speaking his mind, said the NCAA ought to be ashamed for the ruling. While we understand college sports’ governing body wanting to strictly follow the rules, their ruling in this instance just feels ridiculous.
