UL Injury Sparks Outpouring of Support

Louisville’s Kevin Ware suffered one of the most gruesome sports injuries ever during Sunday’s Elite Eight game against Duke, in what many are comparing to the infamous Joe Theismann broken leg injury during a 1985 NFL game.

Ware suffered a horrendous broken leg during the first half of the Duke game, leading to utter shock by everyone in attendance at Lucas Oil Stadium and tears from his Cardinal teammates and coaches.

The injury resulted in an outpouring of support for the fallen player on the internet, as the hashtag #PrayforWare trended on Twitter and led to countless thoughts and prayers from people around the web, including notable athletes:

After Louisville beat Duke on Sunday, 85-63, the Cardinals are headed to Ware’s hometown of Atlanta, where they will no doubt be playing in his honor while trying to win the school’s first national title since 1996.

Head coach Rick Pitino after the game that Ware broke his bone in two places and will miss a year of action.

We can only hope Ware will have the same miraculous recovery that former South Carolina football star Marcus Lattimore is exhibiting and that we will see Ware back on the court sooner rather than later.
