Lattimore Gets Ovation at Carolina Pro Day
It’s not often that a set of indoor football drills can draw a round of applause from a room full of scouts from all 32 NFL teams. Then again, former South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore is more than worthy of such a reaction.
If Wednesday’s Gamecocks pro day in Columbia — during which Lattimore performed 15 minutes of agility drills on a track-like surface before catching passes at Williams-Brice Stadium from current and former Gamecocks QBs — is any indication, his progress coming back from a gruesome knee injury in October has been spectacular.
“It was crazy,” he told USA TODAY Sports when reacting to the ovation. “I did not expect that at all. Pretty much every scout came up to me and said that was amazing and inspiring.”
“That dude is doing stuff I can’t do now,” said former South Carolina CB Captain Munnerlyn, one of several well-wishers on hand to watch Lattimore in action.
Originally thought to be a no-go until the 2014 season, Lattimore says he plans on being ready to play by midseason this fall. The moment he takes the field will certainly earn rousing cheers just like the ones he got on Wednesday.
