K-State Finally Beats Kansas At Home in ’08

Entering its Jan. 30, 2008, contest with Kansas, Kansas State had lost every single home game to its in-state rival for the past 24 years. It was a streak so long that the Wildcats’ freshman star, Michael Beasley, wasn’t even alive the last time K-State beat the Jayhawks at Bramlage Coliseum.

Beasley, en route to becoming the 2008 Big 12 Player of the Year, helped put a stop to that futility by scoring 25 points against the second-ranked and undefeated Jayhawks (20–0) in an 85–74 win. The forward left the Little Apple after just one season and is now a member of the Phoenix Suns, but he was a big part of K-State’s renaissance as a basketball program.

Another highly-ranked Kansas team visits Manhattan on Tuesday night. The crowd at Bramlage will be pushing for another upset. Michael Beasley profile
