Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan Blasts WVU

Should West Virginia struggle in its second season in the Big 12, count New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan among those who will take great schadenfreude out of it.

Ryan didn’t take kindly to a Saturday Pittsburgh Tribune-Review story in which current WVU players said that last year’s team was undermined by a lack of leadership. While former Mountaineers and current Jets QB Geno Smith wasn’t singled out, Ryan nonetheless didn’t appreciate the implication.

“It tells me I’m glad my kid never went there, I can tell you that much,” Ryan told ESPN New York. (His son, Seth, is a freshman preferred walk-on at Clemson.) “I don’t get that. Geno was a tremendous player for West Virginia.”
