ISU Player Cheap Shots IU Return Man
There are certain instances when the controversial new targeting rule — during which players are ejected for shots to the head of opposing players — is a really good idea. Like after what Indiana State’s Carlos Aviles did to Indiana’s Shane Wynn on Thursday night.
The Hoosiers were leading the Sycamores, 59–28, in the third quarter. Wynn — who had returned an earlier punt for a TD — didn’t even have a chance to catch the ball before Aviles (whom Wynn couldn’t have seen with his eyes skyward tracking the punt) slammed into him with a brutal cheap shot.
Aviles was rightfully rejected from a game his team would lose, 73–35.
