Indiana Takes Down No. 2 Buckeyes in 2011

Fittingly, it was the year in which Indiana found itself back among the college basketball elite that the Hoosiers pulled off something they had never accomplished in their illustrious history: Defeat the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country in the same season.

Three weeks after taking down top-ranked Kentucky on a buzzer-beating trey by Christian Watford, Indiana hosted second-ranked Ohio State on Dec. 31, 2011. In defeating the Buckeyes, 74–70, the No. 15 Hoosiers ran their record to 13–1 and relegated their 28–66 mark over the previous three seasons to a distant memory.

A little over 14 months later, Indiana and Ohio State are both near the top of the Big Ten standings and harbor aspirations of a deep run into March. They face off again at Assembly Hall on Tuesday in a key, late-season conference match-up.
