Prep QB Throws 10 TDs in Varsity Debut

Jake Browning entered his sophomore season at Folsom (CA) High School in a battle for the starting QB job. Suffice to say after his varsity debut, he’s won that battle.

Browning threw for 686 passing yards and 10 TDs in a 68–28 victory over Woodcreek on Friday. USA Today’s Tim McGarry says the latter tied a national high school record but that the former fell short of the passing yards record set by David Koran of Pacific Palisades (CA) High in 2000.

What is it with California high school quarterbacks and setting video game-like passing records? And what are the odds that Lane Kiffin has already deployed a USC assistant coach to scout Browning? We’d say pretty good.
