Herschel Walker Nephew Says No to UGA

Being the nephew of the most famous player in Georgia football history, Herschel Walker, isn’t enough for top TE recruit Milan Richard to consider the Bulldogs as one of his final college choices.

The rising senior at Calvary Baptist School in Savannah is a Rivals four-star recruit in the Class of 2014. Richard is not only Walker’s nephew, he is also the son of a pair of former Bulldogs track stars, Veronica and Bill Richard (the former is Walker’s older sister).

Georgia is one of 14 schools to offer Richard a scholarship, yet an ESPN.com report says that he has narrowed his choices down to Clemson, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.

It could be due in large part to another Top 10 tight end in the Class of 2014, Jeb Blazevich, having already committed to the Bulldogs. It could also be due to Richard wanting to forge a sporting legacy separate from that of his parents and famous uncle.

Whatever it may be, you can be sure that Walker and Richard’s parents might try to get him to change his mind between now and Signing Day 2014.
