FSU Puts Clemson Turf in Sod Cemetery
— FSU Football (@FSU_Football) October 25, 2013
We are gathered here today to honor the dearly departed Clemson Tigers, as we lay their sod within the solemn meadows of the Florida State Sod Cemetery, to observe their final resting place as they leave this mortal coil.
For those of you that don’t know, whenever the Florida State Seminoles wins an upset game on the road, they cut out a piece of the opposing teams field and bury it in their Sod Cemetery. This tradition has been going on since the early-60’s and recently culminated with the Seminole’s routing of the Clemson Tigers. While Florida State was actually favored in the game, it was a “Sod Cemetery” game because Clemson was ranked high before getting blown out, 51-14.
