Four CFB Team Unveil New 2013 Helmets

Comments

Even with kickoff to the 2013 college football season nearly seven months away, there’s no time like the present for some teams to unveil new helmets. Four programs — Texas Tech, Nevada, Western Michigan and Fresno State — recently showed off the redesigned lids they’ll be sporting in the fall.

In their first year under Kliff Kingsbury, the Red Raiders get a new red stripe running down the middle for both their normal black helmets and alternative white ones. Meanwhile, a pair of Mountain West teams, Nevada and Fresno State, will sport alternate white lids in addition to their normal dark blue and red ones, respectively. (The Wolfpack also add a predominantly gray lid to their helmet catalog.)

The most dramatic helmet overhaul among the aforementioned four belongs to Western Michigan. Seeking an old-timely look, the Broncos have a rendering of a horse on one side and the player’s number on the other, both in brown.

WMU’s new lids are pretty cool, even if they don’t blow us away. It’s more than we can say about either the new white helmets of Nevada and Fresno or TTU’s new red stripe-adorned lids.
