Ex-CFB Player Assaulted by 1st Grader?

Apparently, college football is nothing compared to the battlefield that is New York City public schools.

27-year-old gym teacher John Webster, a former Division III college football player, is taking action against the city after he alleged that a student broken his ankle and injured his knee at P.S. 330 in Queens last April.

At 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds, Webster is typically strong enough to handle himself. But Rodrigo Carpio was apparently no average first grader.

“He was very strong. He was using the heel of his feet to kick me in my leg,” Webster told reporters. “He spun around and belted me in the right knee and I heard a pop to my knee at that time.”

Webster hopes that his medical bills, which he says have climbed to $10,000, will be reimbursed by the Department of Education.

We feel bad for Webster but a reimbursement on his dignity seems far less likely.
