Fluke 2-Pointer Lifts NDSU to FCS Title

North Dakota State pulled away from Sam Houston State in the second half to win its second straight FCS title, 39–13, on Saturday. Among the highlights was an accidental two-point conversion in the third quarter that went well enough to look planned.

After a Bison touchdown with 2:08 remaining in the quarter made it 23–10, punter Ben LeCompte bobbled the snap on the ensuing PAT. Keeping his wits about him, LeCompte lateraled the ball backward to placekicker Adam Keller, who found up DE Mike Hardie with a Hail Mary pass in the end zone to make it 25–10.

You don’t win two straight national titles without sometimes being lucky instead of good.
