Florida State Football Getting New Uniforms, Helmets
The fan fury surrounding Florida State’s controversial logo change will likely only get louder at the news that the Seminoles’ beloved football uniforms are also undergoing a facelift. But Tomahawk Nation’s Bud Elliott insists that unlike the logo change, the new uniforms will be something that FSU fans can rally behind.
“While I have not seen the new uniforms, I have been told by three people I trust who have seen them that the uniforms look great, and are not ‘Oregon-ish,’ ” Elliott wrote on Thursday. “These folks are traditionalists, and seem to like the uniform changes more than the logo.”
Among those yet-to-be-seen changes, per Elliott:
- Incoporation of the Seminole Tribe imagery on the shoulder pads
- The spears on the helmets “now cross in the back of the helmet and are more Nike-ized” like the Seattle Seahawks’ helmet
- A new matte garnet helmet with “color-change paint” and a gold face mask (one that Elliott believes is an alternate lid)
- A standard gold helmet featuring a gold face mask (Elliott says there is speculation that this will be the new official helmet)
Not even Oregon can match the anticipation for these new uniforms.
