UF Asst Calls Saban ‘The Devil Himself’

Comments

When you’re Nick Saban, your success will inevitably breed an angry type of envy among rival head coaches and those associated with them.

It started in August 2011 when, prior to Will Muschamp’s first season at Florida, his father Larry referred to Saban as a “son of a b*tch.” It continued this past January, when Vanderbilt’s James Franklin jokingly called Saban “Nicky Satan” at a Georgia high school banquet.

Now, one of Muschamp’s assistants, Gators offensive line coach Tim Davis — who spent three seasons under Saban (2005–2006 with the Dolphins and 2008 at Alabama) — has joined in on the fun.

“I’ve always wanted to work with Will,” Davis said at an event in Melbourne, FL, on Tuesday night. “Will’s got a plan. Will coached under the devil himself for seven years. I only did three. He did seven. And his DNA is not any different than Nick.

“[Muschamp’s] like the other guy, only he’s got a personality. He’ll smile at you. He’ll talk to you. You understand? That’s what he’s all about. That’s Will. I’m proud to work for him.”

We anticipate Alabama beat writers asking Saban about this latest insult hurled in his direction, only to have him issue a non-response like he always does.
