Female PK’s NFL Tryout Ends Disastrously
The hype surrounding Lauren Silberman — a former club soccer player at Wisconsin who became the first woman to compete in an NFL regional combine over the weekend — was just that: hype.
Her actual performance on Sunday went woefully awry at the New York Jets’ indoor practice facility in Florham Park, NJ.
Silberman logged just two official kickoff attempts at her workout, the first of which went 19 yards and the other just 13 yards. Below is the video of her second and last attempt, during which she hurt herself.

The 28-year-old Silberman fought back tears afterward, saying she hurt her right quadriceps earlier in the week while practicing. She was examined by an NFL athletic trainer and tried to talk officials into allowing her to attempt field goals but was denied.
“The distance wasn’t there but hopefully the scouts will notice my technique,” Silberman told ESPNW. “It’s not always length.”
We admire Silberman for trying out, but suggest she starts accepting the fact she won’t be selected in April’s NFL draft.
