ESPN’s Pollack Lands in Hot Water
ESPN analyst and former Georgia star David Pollack landed in hot water on Saturday for saying on “College GameDay” that women shouldn’t be allowed on college football’s playoff committee with news leaking that former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to be named one of its members.
The conversation went like this:
Pollack: “Now I’m going to stick my foot in my mouth, probably. I want people on this committee, guys, that can watch tape, yes, that have played football, that are around football, that can tell you different teams, on tape, not on paper–”
Chris Fowler: “So no woman belongs on the committee, then?”
Pollack: “You said that … I’ll say it, yeah. Yeah.”
Well, Pollack did preface the talk by saying he was going to stick his foot in his mouth. And Fowler didn’t do Pollack any favors by asking a leading question like that when Pollack initially didn’t mention gender. Either way, it set off a firestorm of criticism across the internet that led Pollack to “clarify” himself on Twitter.
I want people on the committee that eat, sleep & breathe college football during the season. It has nothing to do with male or female

Don’t be surprised if Pollack takes a pass the next time the show discusses the playoff committee.
