DII School Gets 50-Yard Midfield Logo

When it comes to football, everything is bigger in Texas — including at the Division II level.

It wouldn’t do Texas A&M-Commerce justice to call the icon on its new Memorial Stadium turf a “midfield logo.” That’s because the rendering of a lion (the school’s mascot) is the biggest in all of college football at 50 yards wide and extending from sideline to sideline.

We’ve already seen plenty of cool new college football fields mimicking Boise State’s “Smurf Turf.” But give this Texas school, located about an hour outside of Dallas, credit for thinking outside the box — way outside the box.
