‘Cuse’s Jim Boeheim Rips Reggie Miller
Syracuse head coach and noted sourpuss Jim Boeheim has been especially surly after his team survived a controversial victory over No. 16 seed UNC-Asheville on Thursday, 72-65.
First, he metaphorically pointed to the scoreboard after Asheville coach Eddie Biedenbach said the Bulldogs were the better team. On Friday, Boeheim let out some more steam on NBA legend and CBS color man Reggie Miller, who called the team’s game.
Apparently upset with Miller’s analysis that the Orange should switch out of their legendary 2-3 zone against the Bulldogs, Boeheim took issue with the critique, especially because Miller only calls college basketball games during the NCAA tournament on top of his normal gig for TNT’s NBA games.
Said Boeheim: “I just wanted to tell Reggie: We do not play man-to-man defense, just in case you didn’t realize that.
“... It reminded me if I’d never been to an NBA game and I went to watch you play and you missed your first two jumpers… (and I said,) ‘Why doesn’t that guy just drive (to the basket)? Oh, ‘cause he can’t.’”
We love it; not only did Boeheim call out Miller’s inexperience calling college basketball games, he also fired shots at his NBA career.
Who will be next to receive Boeheim’s wrath? Our hope is a microphone.
