Colorado Hosed on Non-Buzzer Beater
Colorado men’s basketball coach Tad Boyle should be celebrating his biggest win this season with the Buffaloes this morning. Instead, he and his players are left lamenting a waved off buzzer-beater against No. 3 Arizona on Thursday night that clearly should have counted.
With the score knotted at 80-all and 10 seconds remaining, Colorado moved the ball up the floor with a chance to pull off a road shocker in its Pac-12 opener. Senior guard Sabatino Chen — great name, by the way — let one fly from beyond the arc and banked it in, seemingly giving the Buffaloes an 83–80 victory.
Both members of the ESPNU crew calling the game for TV thought the ball left Chen’s hands in time, and replay seemed to back them up. Inexplicably, however, the officials waved off the basket and sent the game to overtime, where Arizona would prevail 92–83.
Take a look at the GIF (H/T The Bloody Owl) and video below. More likely than not, you’ll agree with our assessment that the Buffaloes got hosed.
