Jadeveon Clowney Runs 4.46 40 Time?
The college football-watching populace can’t wait to see what kind of 2013 season South Carolina defense end/man-child Jadeveon Clowney will have. Simultaneously, opposing offensive players are trying to stave off thinking about it for as long as possible.
That’s easier said than done for the latter — especially when rumors such as this one start circulating around the web.
Think Clowney ran a 4.46
— Mike Davis (@Mike28davis) July 15, 2013
To put that in perspective, that’s just .03 seconds behind what former Michigan QB Denard Robinson - generally considered one of the fastest players in college football last season - ran at this year’s NFL combine.
Yes, the fact that this rumor comes courtesy of one of Clowney’s Gamecock teammates (running back Mike Davis) is reason for some skepticism. But it’s not completely far-fetched. ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi reported in March that Clowney was running a 4.5 40-yard dash during winter workouts.
Add to that the fact that the 6-foot-6 Clowney is now a chiseled 275 pounds and we could be in store for many more hits similar to his now legendary de-cleating of Michigan RB Vincent Smith in the 2013 Outback Bowl.
