Turkey Feet on New VA Tech Helmets

Comments

On Saturday, the helmets the Hokies will wear for the 2012 White Effect game against Austin Peay on Sept. 8 were unveiled. It’s an all-white design festooned with … turkey feet.

We respect that it’s the program’s way of paying tribute to their beloved HokieBird mascot as well as the old-timey “Fighting Gobblers” nickname that has been associated with the team since the early 20th century.

But for a game in which the opposition is supposed to be intimidated by a white-out crowd at Lane Stadium, it’s hard to imagine the opposition being remotely scared by this helmet design.

It also doesn’t help that this pales in comparison to the awesome military-themed helmets for the Hokies’ Sept. 22 contest against Bowling Green. Grade: F
