CBB Teams Go Camo for Military Games

Four of college basketball’s opening matchups this weekend will take place in front of military personnel on Naval ships, air bases or decommissioned aircraft carriers. Nike, which outfits all eight of the participating teams, has designed uniforms to commemorate the occasions.

“The Swoosh” has designed camouflage uniforms for UConn, Michigan State, Syracuse, San Diego State, Florida, Georgetown, Marquette and Ohio State. The jerseys, shorts, socks and shoelaces all feature the pattern without having their traditional look completely overhauled.

“Nike outdid themselves,” Spartans coach Tom Izzo said over the weekend. “It’s an unbelievable job. I think our players appreciate it.”

Both Michigan State and North Carolina took the court on the USS Carl Vinson outfitted in camouflage uniforms last November. We’re happy to see Nike keeping this new tradition alive. Grade: B+
