Brady Loses Bet and Wears Vrabel Jersey

While Tom Brady has come up short in the last two Super Bowls he’s led the Patriots to, the former Michigan QB has enjoyed great success in the NFL: three Super Bowl wins (XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX, with MVP honors in the first two), two NFL MVP awards (2007 and 2010) and seven Pro Bowl appearances (2001, 2004–2007, 2009–2011).

But in one area he has fallen woefully short since entering the league in 2001. And it involves an annual wager with former New England teammate Mike Vrabel.

For several years, Brady and Vrabel have wagered on the Michigan-Ohio State game (Vrabel was an All-American defensive end for the Buckeyes). Only once since ’03 have the Wolverines won, resulting in Brady having to wear Vrabel’s No. 94 Buckeyes jersey at Patriot practices the following week.

Sure enough, there was Brady at practice this week wearing the Vrabel jersey again following his alma mater’s 26–21 loss last Saturday. The picture was gleefully tweeted out by Vrabel — currently the Buckeyes’ defensive line coach — on Thursday.

Criticize Brady all you want. At least he doesn’t welch on his bets. Tom Brady profile | Mike Vrabel profile
