Bo Pelini Wrestled OL Signee on Home Visit
It’s pretty well established at this point that Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini is a little off. As in “challenged a highly touted offensive lineman recruit to wrestle him” off.
Which is exactly what Pelini did during his recent in-home visit to Highland (IL) High School offensive guard Tanner Farmer, the fourth-ranked player at his position in the Class of 2014 (according to Rivals). Pelini had obviously caught word about how the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Farmer could bench 440 pounds and squat 650, and he wanted to see that strength for himself.
“I bet you can’t take me down,” Pelini joked with Farmer, according to the Omaha World-Herald’s Sam McKewon. After looking to his dad for permission, Farmer got Pelini in a hold and lifted him up in the air. Rather than complete the takedown, Farmer embraced Pelini in a hug.
“It was a cool moment,” Farmer’s father, Brian, told McKewon.
Not to mention one that likely contributed to Farmer signing with the Huskers on Wednesday.
