‘Bama DL Williams Benches 600 Pounds

Comments

No, that headline is not a numerical typo.

According to tweets from his teammates and himself, Alabama defensive lineman Jesse Williams benched 600 pounds early Thursday morning. By our count, there are six weight plates on each side of the bar (which we didn’t know was possible).

Long-snapper Carson Tinker tweeted his love for Williams — whose handle, @ThaMonstar, feels like an appropriate one.

Placekicker Cade Foster tweeted out how Williams’ feat of strength put his own 455-pound bench press to shame.

What are they feeding players in the SEC West? Former Tide RB Trent Richardson wasn’t allowed to exceed a “paltry” 475 pounds on the bench when he was still in Tuscaloosa out of fear for his safety. And Arkansas RB Kniles Davis squatted 600 pounds earlier this offseason.

Not to mention a placekicker benching 455?! The rest of college football has some catching up to do in the weight room.
