A&M Store Sells ‘We Control Tide’ Shirts
Perhaps Texas A&M athletic director Eric Hyman was merely making a plug for the Aggieand Outfitters gift and memorabilia store rather than trying to set off a mini-firestorm when he made his “we control the Tide” like the moon joke at the Brazos County (TX) A&M Club dinner on Thursday night.
According to whoever runs the Aggieland Outfitters Twitter account, the store has offered a shirt with the phrase printed on it — the schools “ATM” logo is on the moon while “Tide” is in red — going back to February. Moreover, the joke has been around since before the Aggies’ 29–24 upset at Alabama, when the school’s Yell Leaders used it leading up to the game.
The number of A&M fans in the Kyle Field stands we predict will be wearing this shirt for the September 14th rematch between the two teams: at least 5,000.
