Alabama Temple: No Yom Kippur Spoilers


For Jewish college football fans in Alabama, September 14th will be agonizing. At the same time that Auburn faces Mississippi State and Alabama takes on Texas A&M, they’ll all be in the middle of services for Yom Kippur (the Jewish day of atonement).

Temple Emanu-El in Birmingham is facing this problem head on. They are asking all Yom Kippur attendants to refrain from discussion or even insinuation of the scores of those aforementioned games, otherwise “our pages in the Book of Life will be compromised and all of us will suffer.”

Here’s all the proof one needs that in Alabama, there are in fact other religions than football.
