Ex-NCAA POY Adam Morrison to Retire?

Is former Gonzaga star Adam Morrison done as a player?

The Portland Trail Blazers, who invited Morrison to their training camp in early October after he averaged 20 points/game during Summer League play, waived the former No. 3 overall NBA draft pick on Friday.

“I want to thank the Blazers’ organization for giving me a chance,” Morrison told CSNNW.com. “I’m sorry things didn’t work out, but I wish them nothing but success. Right now, I’m just going to talk to my agent and see where to go from here.”

That could mean retirement from playing for the 28-year old. Upon his invite to Portland’s camp, Morrison said he would finish his college degree — he turned pro following his junior year, in 2006 — and start coaching if he didn’t make the final roster.

With that, the playing career of one of the most electric scorers in recent college basketball memory and the 2006 national Co-Player of the Year could be over.
