Ad for Vols Coach Posted to Craigslist

In its coaching search, Tennessee has already been turned down by ESPN NFL analyst Jon Gruden, Louisville’s Charlie Strong and Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy and have morphed into a national punch line in the college football world.

One apparent Vols fan played along with the joke and posted an ad for the opening to Craigslist.

And not just any ad, but one that highlights the lowlights of previous Tennessee coaches across more than one sport. Desired qualifications listed (and who they make fun of) include:

  • “Recruiting two- and three-star players” (Derek Dooley)
  • “Attempting to not break NCAA rules, especially while on ESPN cameras” (Lane Kiffin)
  • “Required to abide by the rules and regulations established by the NCAA, unless he holds a BBQ at his house, in which case that never happened and you’ve never seen that player before if anyone asks” (Bruce Pearl)

The hilarity continues in the “Essential Responsibilities” section, which asks that any candidate “reduce number of player arrests by 10 percent” and “schedule games, preferably with directional schools.”

Alas, the posting was flagged for removal. It’s a shame, as the ad was one of the few bright spots for Volunteer fans in the last several months.
