’94 Big East POY Marshall Hired at Rider

After an NBA career that spanned 15 years, former UConn star forward Donyell Marshall — the 1994 Big East Player of the Year — is hoping for a similarly lengthy career as a coach.

He took the latest step toward realizing that on Thursday when he was hired to join the staff at Rider (NJ) University as an assistant coach. Marshall was previously an assistant at George Washington (2010–2011) and with the D-League’s Maine Red Claws (2011–2012).

Marshall hopes to help the Broncs to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1994 — when, ironically, it was his UConn team that eliminated them, 64–46, in the first round. Donyell Marshall profile
