John Beilein’s Son Named DII Head Coach

Comments

Another Beilein will be a head coach in West Virginia.

Patrick Beilein, the son of current Michigan and ex-WVU head coach John Beilein, has been named the head man at West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday, according to pjstar.com.

The report said that the younger Beilein, who was the director of basketball operations at Bradley, will be introduced at the Division II school on June 5.

Beilein, 29, had spent one season with the Braves after a year as an assistant at Dartmouth and two as a graduate assistant at Michigan. He played at West Virginia, where he was a member of the 2005 Elite Eight team.

Beilein is doing well for himself in the coaching ranks despite being under 30. It must run in the family; his father began a coaching career - stopping at WVU from 2002-2007 - at a high school in 1975 at the age of 22.
