ESPN’s Bob Knight Snubs UK, A. Davis
ESPN college basketball analyst Bob Knight isn’t good at hiding his bias.
Props to CBSSports.com for pointing this out since we didn’t hear the interview, but the web site reported that Knight was a guest on ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike” on Wednesday, when he was asked to name the best teams and players in the country.
According to the web site, Knight listed Syracuse, Duke, UNC, Missouri and Kansas as his top teams in the nation. Noticeably missing? Only the consensus No. 1 team in both polls, Kentucky, which likely will be the top overall seed in next month’s tourney.
The legendary former coach, who has butted heads with UK coach John Calipari in the past, also omitted sensational Wildcats freshman and player of the year candidate Anthony Davis in his mention of the nation’s top performers.
College basketball surely has parity and the top teams and players is a matter of opinion. But Kentucky - which is 28-1, including 14-0 in SEC play, in 2011-12 - has had such a good season that not mentioning the ‘Cats in a serious discussion of the sport’s elite is ludicrous.
