Brandon Roy Considering Comeback?
Former Washington and Portland Trail Blazers star Brandon Roy had to retire after the 2010-11 NBA season thanks to a degenerative knee condition. Now he reportedly may attempt a comeback.
Citing sources, Euro Basket - via a report by US Basket - said that Roy has been getting treatment on his knee, even if many are skeptical that he actually has enough left in him.
“It’s the truth. It’s really hard being so far away from the game. I spend time watching Jamal (Crawford) and following all of his games; Will (Conroy) and Tre (Simmons) are both doing their thing, so it’s driving me to wanna come back out there,” Roy said of the fellow Seattle natives, according to the report.
“If the treatment I’ve been looking into can work, I believe there’s a good chance you will see Brandon Roy back hoopin’.”
Roy said in the report that he watched last Sunday’s All-Star Game at Crawford’s home, which only served to get him more motivated for a return to the hardwood.
A former lottery pick, NBA Rookie of the Year and three-time All-Star, Roy had to leave behind a promising career with the Blazers. Only time will tell if he can actually make a return to basketball and, if he does, be anywhere close to what he once was. Brandon Roy profile
