Ex-QB Bust Sabelhaus Is Movie Producer
Former Florida quarterback Bobby Sabelhaus, considered one of the biggest recruiting busts of all time, has made something of himself away from the football field.
As Sports Illustrated detailed in this story, Sabelhaus - who famously flamed out with the Gators after being unable to throw a spiral - now is a movie producer. The quarterback had to leave UF for Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA, before transferring to West Virginia, where he lasted a week.
But Sabelhaus - who is more than back on his feet - has helped develop a script for “The Count of Monte Cristo,” which may help him become just as known in Hollywood today as he was to recruiting gurus years ago.
Rated ahead of Brock Huard and Tom Brady at the time, Sabelhaus had a throwing problem that got in his head - akin to baseball’s Chuck Knoblauch - but he hasn’t let it affect the rest of his life.
