UConn’s Khalid El-Amin Signs in Croatia
Former Connecticut basketball star Khalid El-Amin has made it back from an injury and will continue his lengthy professional basketball career overseas.
El-Amin has signed with Croatia’s KK Cibona for the next month, according to Sportando last week. Last season, he was a member of Lithuania’s Lietuvos Rytas, where he suffered a severe quadriceps injury - tearing the muscle off the bone - last May.
A member of UConn’s first national championship team in 1999, El-Amin was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2000. He played just 50 games in the league before taking his talents overseas for the past 10 years.
El-Amin, 32, was a charismatic player whose love for the game was obvious in college. It’s clear that he won’t let anything - even a gruesome injury - stand in the way of him playing as a pro. Khalid El-Amin profile
